SPMI-Logotipo-2017

Dear Colleagues,

The Nucleus of Ecography Studies of SPMI (NEEco) invites all to participate in the 2nd and 3rd part of the International webinar "Fighting COVID -19 with Ultrasound", scheduled for the 11th of May as 18:00 (GMT) and the 16th of May at 18:00 (GMT).

The sequels to the first webinar will cover the following topic, 'Ultrasound Waves after Second Waves of Infection', with the understanding that the concurrent pandemic is crossing a crucial phase where our healthcare systems will need to adapt and respond.

In Part 2, we will confront this issue using some present examples collected and analyzed by the Director, Doctor Jorge Teixeira, from the Emergency Department of the Hospital of Braga (Braga, Portugal). Following this, Doctor Michael Blaivas, of the St. Francis Hospital Emergency Department (Columbus, Georgia, U.S.) will review the most recent advancements stemming from a recent papers, 'Using Thoracic Ultrasound in evaluating suspected/confirmed cases of COVID-19'. This webinar will also feature the participation of Doctor Mónica Diniz, a radiologist from Faro, Portugal, who will introduce us on the ongoing advances in utilizing radiology, specifically the Computed Axial Tomography, throughout this pandemic. This section will conclude with a discussion, moderated by me.

In Part 3, we will shift our focus towards clinical aspects of integrating Ultrasound in the evaluation of suspected/confirmed cases of COVID-19. This will feature the same team from the first webinar: Costantino Caroselli, Geriatric Emergency Department and Aging Research Center (Ancona, Italy); Yale Tung Chen, Emergency Department of University Hospital of La Paz (Madrid, Spain); Thiago Santos, Intensive Therapy Division of Clinical Hospital Unicamp (Campinas, Brazil); José Mariz, Emergency Department of Hospital of Braga (Braga, Portugal). We will also introduce Robert Arntfield, Director of London Health Sciences Critical Care & Trauma Centre (London, Ontario, Canada), who we will feature in this webinar.

During this webinar, you will have the possibility of sharing your questions/concerns with the panel. We might not have the chance to answer all your questions in real-time, so we will be presenting the most universally pertinent questions. Do not miss this opportunity to participate in this webinar, where the role of POCUS throughout this pandemic will be discussed by our experienced panel and featured guests!

Feel free to register for the webinar, whether you will be present or not.

The video will be available to all those who signed up via the SPMI Youtube Channel.

Let’s fight this!

José Mariz
